The Story of Tea photo exhibition with gongfu tea ceremony and Chinese calligraphy in Varaždin. First tea photo exhibition in Croatia.
From December 15th until December 24th, in „Galerijski centar Varaždin“, first Chinese and Taiwanese tea photography exhibition in Croatia named „The Story of Tea“ (Priča o čaju) was held.
December 15th is known as International Tea Day. The opening ceremony was held in the afternoon, in praise of tea and tea drinking culture. This unique and first of its kind event took place in a gallery that proved not to be big enough for all tea enthusiasts and visitors curious about tea. Some of them traveled from other cities only to get a chance for trying high quality tea, and to participate in the first ever gongfu tea brewing in Varaždin.
The Story of Tea photo exhibition
More than 50 different photos of tea were exhibited, followed by additional information about tea history, main types and tea legends. Photos are the work of Iva Tkalec, owner and writer of the only Croatian tea blog Tea Chronicles. In cooperation with Confucius Institute at the University of Zagreb, Si Junmei presented gongfu tea ceremony and Duan Yaqin showed Chinese calligraphy looks like. These beautiful presentations found many admirers. The general tea sponsor for this event was Taiwanese tea shop Tea Mountains. We owe many thanks to them for providing excellent gao shan tea.
Tea Mountains provided five extraordinary gao shan oolongs for tasting. Presentation lasted almost two hours and visitors were able to enjoy Alishan, Sunlinksea, Dongyanshan, Hehuanshan gao shan oolong from Tea Mountains brewed gongfu style. All of them received a small present – Qilaishan oolong tea bag. We had a change to presend shu and sheng pu’er teas from China as well, and one exceptional flower tea – gui hua. Many visitors were surprised about the excellent taste of real tea, owing to the fact that this was the first time they ever tried real tea.
This event was a great opportunity to learn about tea and beautiful Chinese tea drinking culture, as well as calligraphy. Once again, numerous visitors proved that tea in Croatia is a very interesting topic, and much enthusiasm has been shown for further discovering.
Once again, we would like to thank our kind sponsor Tea Mountains, all people that helped us in organizing and visitors. The Tea Chronicles are not only a place for tea reviews. We have a strong interest in promoting tea drinking culture and providing tea information to tea lovers.
